ONE: Two Cities, One Community presents over a hundred photos, taken by Paul Manoian, of people from the Farmington/Farmington Hills community to demonstrate the vibrant, diverse, and unified community these two cities form.
You are invited to participate by adding your Polaroid photo to the exhibition. You bring the smile, we’ve got the camera!
This project was made possible by the generous support of Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the Farmington & Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth & Families.
EMERGENCE: A Group Exhibition is on view now through October 30th at KickstART Gallery & Shop in downtown Farmington.
Emergence is the process of coming into view or becoming exposed after being concealed. After more than a year of uncertainty many of us are emerging from one type of isolation or another and longing for “normalcy”. But what does it mean to you to emerge? What will you bring with you and what will you leave behind? Have you grown or changed, or will you emerge the same? Artists were invited to consider issues like collective trauma, recovery, fear, isolation, community, togetherness, love, transition, hope.
Selected works were curated from a number of submissions and represent the talent and variety of art being created across Michigan.
Artists featured in EMERGENCE include Mike Kroll, Rose Marie Starke, Anita Stromberg, Troy Weaver, Susan Warner, Wendi Knape, Steffanie Samuels, Ernest Carl Fackler, Leon Knapp, Celeste Roe, Madhu Oberoi, James Rodriguez, Cathy Rozenberg, Thomas Nichols, Pamela Alexander, Karla Aren, and Kathleen Troshynski.
Join us Thursday, September 23rd, from 5-8 pm, at the KickstART Gallery & Shop for a reception with the artists.
