There’s always a lot of great arts and cultural events in the Farmington/Hills community and this week is no exception.
Here are KickstART farmington’s recommendations for the week of July 15th:
- Detroit Unseen: Inside the Extraordinary Ruins of Detroit, a presentation by photographer Bob Huston who has been capturing images of Detroit’s historic and forgotten structures for nearly ten years. July 16th at 7 pm at the Farmington Community Library (main branch on 12 Mile)
- Lunch Beats in Riley Park, featuring Al Carmichael, an accomplished guitarist and songwriter, he scored a #1 country hit with “What Kind of Fool Do You Think I Am” recorded by Lee Roy Parnell and has also received a Detroit music award. July 17th at noon in Riley Park
- High School Music Night, including vocalists Mia Hall Whitener, Sarah Reddypogu, Hannah Reddypogu, and 2018 Miss Farmington Megan Cromwell, plus several members of the School of Rock Farmington House Band, who will play in varied ensembles featuring acoustic, psychedelic rock, and emo indie punk, at Stars in the Park. July 18th at 7:00 pm Thursday at the Heritage Park Amphitheater
- KickstART Farmington presents a Pop-Up Art Exhibition, featuring the work of Aj Cooke. July 18-21st at 33304 Grand River Ave., with an opening reception on Thursday, July 18th from 7:00-9:00 pm
- Greater Farmington Founders Festival, featuring music, family fun, Farmington Fido Fest, parade, vintage market, and more. July 18-21st in Shiawassee Park
- The Skye Island Band, six masterful musicians with their heads in jazz and their hearts in soul, perform at Rhythms in Riley Park. July 19th at 7:00 pm in Riley Park
- Grab a movie and popcorn at the Farmington Civic Theater. This week’s schedule (Monday-Thursday) includes A Dog’s Journey, Rocketman, Late Night, and Pokemon: Detective Pikachu.
